Help

Email address is already in use

If you try to add an email address that is connected to another login.gov account, you will get an error message that says, “You have confirmed your email address but it is associated with another login.gov account. You need to remove it from the other account before you can associate it with this one.”

You can’t add the same email address to two different login.gov accounts, but you can combine the two accounts. To combine accounts, use the steps below:

  1. Delete one of the accounts
  2. Sign in to the other account and add the email address that was linked to the account you just deleted
  3. Relink the application profiles that were linked to your deleted account
