What is phishing?

Phishing is when someone tries to trick you into sharing your password or other personal information online. Phishing is typically done through email, ads, or by sites that look similar to sites you already use. For example, you might get an email that looks like it’s from login.gov asking you to confirm your email, password, security code, or personal key. A security key makes it harder for this to occur because there are no codes that you can mistakenly share with an attacker. The security key will also make sure you’re entering information on the official login.gov website.
